What are your tools?

Currently I am living in Colorado Springs (which could be changing in 2 weeks or 2 months. Its been a trend to not know things for sure until about 36 hours before go time… so that’s pretty rad). And plans change on a weekly basis around here, so I am getting lots of opportunities to practice being flexible! Who else struggles with wanting to control everything?? Just me? Ok.

I was actually born and raised here so I have visited many of the churches around but Ian and I both agree Springs Church with Pastor Michael Petillo is by far our fav!

Michael is so cool and just strait up with you. Typically wearing jeans and Vans, rather than a suit and dress shoes and I’ll be honest, that’s more of our style too.

I really love Jesus and will be talking about him a lot around here. If you’re looking for a church or just curious as to why I love Him so much I would highly encourage you to check out Springs Church. You don’t have to jump in all at once. If you’re not a fan of attending the service or just don’t live in the Springs, you can watch the live stream or the replay!

Anyways, I want to ask you: “What are the tools you’ve been given”

What are your God given gifts? Don’t even think “I don’t have any special gifts or tools”, because you do.. and you know you do.

Even if you don’t know exactly what they are, you know they are in there somewhere! Sometimes I think we tend to put on this “I’m going to be humble” persona and pretend or maybe even end up convincing ourselves that we don’t have any gifts, ‘because if I’m good at something I’m not being humble‘.

I totally used to think like this (hence I can describe it so well). So please know you’re not a bad person for thinking or feeling like this, but you do need to stop. You’re not going anywhere with that mindset, nonetheless helping anyone else along the way! I know most of us have a desire to help people, at least once in our lives, by giving someone our time with whatever we are gifted in.

Theres a quote I just LOVE from John Maxwell “If you want to feel valuable, add value to others.” Ummm duh! This totally makes sense! I am wondering why it took me so long to grasp this very simple statement. We all need to have stuff simplified sometimes, right?

Romans 12 describes a few of these tools I’m talking about: Prophesy or in other words, telling others about God. Serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and kindness. These are just a few of them.

I’m wrapping up, I promise…

How do I know if what I’m good at is a ‘gift’?

One of my gifts is encouraging. I know its a gift because I love to do it and I find myself wanting to build others up. I love this space so much already because I LOVE getting the chance to pour into you and your life. To remind you that YOU are wanted. YOU are needed.

Just because one of your tools isn’t perfect or you’re not good at using it all the time, doesn’t mean its not from God and you can just put it back in the box. I used to use that excuse.

So, what are some of the tools in your box?
